Bathrooms go wrong when decisions are made mid-project. Use this list before your fitters arrive.
Technical checks
Confirm water pressure and whether your system supports the shower you want. Check ventilation — an extractor with adequate extraction rate is a building standards requirement, not a nice-to-have. Identify soil pipe position early, because moving a toilet is the costliest change.
Choices to lock in
Tiles, grout colour, sanitaryware, brassware finish, flooring, heating (radiator or underfloor), lighting positions and storage. Order everything before the strip out so lead times do not stall the job.
Practical planning
Agree parking and access, plan where you will wash for 7–14 days, and confirm the snagging process in writing.
